An unbeatable homemade bait: sugar and borax
This technique relies on a bait made with borax, a naturally occurring mineral that disrupts the ants' digestive system. Attracted by the sugar, they consume the mixture and carry it back to their nest. The result: the entire colony is neutralized within 24 to 48 hours.
What you need
1 tablespoon of borax (available in supermarkets or online) – 100g of caster sugar (to attract ants) – 250ml of hot water (to dissolve the mixture) – Cotton balls or pieces of cardboard (to place the bait) – A small container (to mix the ingredients)
Bait preparation and use
Start by mixing the borax, sugar, and hot water in a container. Stir until completely dissolved. Then soak cotton balls in the resulting liquid, or pour it directly onto small pieces of cardboard. Place these baits in strategic locations: the kitchen, countertops, near entrances (doors, windows), and in damp rooms (sink, bathroom). Let it work. Within minutes, the sweet scent will attract the ants. They will carry the poison back to the nest, causing the gradual elimination of the entire colony.
